Absolutely!  Why not? Just because you want to get your ex back does not mean you have to go into hiding or  turn into a social hermit!

But you must remember that if you are feeling the emotional stress associated with losing an ex you may not be
compos mentis or thinking straight in your decisions regarding the opposite sex. So although dating can beneficial for social reasons, do bear in mind that you could still be emotionally vulnerable.

So, dating while waiting or trying to get your ex back can have some emotional dangers associated with it. However, providing that you keep things light you shouldn't have a problem. These dangers only usually occur when the motives behind the desire to date are not totally logical.

Do you have a hidden agenda?

Are you simply seeking company - or are there hidden agendas?

What do we mean by hidden agendas?

After a break up, people sometimes try to substitute their ex with a 'pseudo-love' or replacement and so date someone with some physical or personal similarities to their ex. Now, this manifestation can seem quite harmless at first glance, and usually it is - but for some people, having a pseudo-ex can cause further emotional confusion. This condition is also sometimes referred to as "a rebound relationship". Many relationship experts will confirm that rebound relationships can end up creating even more emotional stress than the original break up!

If you do decide to date while trying to get your ex back, the important thing is stay cool and keep the relationship light until you start to get your emotional feet back on the ground.

Another danger with dating while trying to get your ex back is the "jealousy factor." Many people attempt to get back their ex by trying to make the ex jealous. As jilted or upset lovers don't usually think clearly at all, this might sometimes seem like a sensible solution to get an ex back.

However, purposely creating jealousy (a form of antagonism) might of course backfire horribly and in that case it will
not "get your ex back" - but instead will completely ruin any chances of making up.
