When you are in love, everything seems new and different, the air smells
sweet and has a certain vibrance in it. You're fascinated by the one you've
fallen in love with … who sadly may not be fascinated with you. That hurts
and can leave anyone feeling broken hearted.
Love can be rejected in many ways, from 'That's really sweet, let's be friends
' to 'Er … sorry, I really don't like you that way' to 'Ew, get away from me, loser!'
That's not the way it's supposed to go, right? According to the films and the books everyone is supposed to end up living happily ever after … together ... and seldom is anyone left with a broken heart. But it's so often not that way in real life.
Let's assume that your love was rejected in a fairly dignified manner, where you explained your deep feelings for the other person and in return they gently explained that they just don't feel that way about you.
So you are perhaps now wondering what to do next. Do you try to persuade your unsympathetic loved one that actually you really are the right person for them? Do you give up right now and nurse your broken heart alone? Do you get out and try to find a replacement to, by dating,s 'drown your sorrows' with?
These are all various options. The right one will depend on exactly what your situation is.
You could indeed go out and party like crazy to take your mind off things. Just make sure you don't do anything that you might later regret - emotionally or physically! That might include behaving in any ways that your beloved would not find attractive … later on you may want to keep your options open, after all …
If, perhaps, you feel there is some hope that the rejection is not hopelessly final, you might want to change your approach subtly. A good way is to try and write an emotive letter to your ex. Love expressed beautifully in writing is not so easy to reject as love spoken aloud!
If, on the other hand, you are certain there's absolutely no hope and you need to heal your broken heart and get yourself , we would recommend our specially-commissioned FREE e-book.
Whatever way you choose to move forwards, we wish you the best of luck!
